Do People Really Care About the Size of a Laptop?

The question in computing has become, “Does physical size really matter or is it more important to have a powerful workhorse computer that allows you to fit all your software and save as many projects as possible on your computer?” Another point here may be whether the smaller dimensions are more useful or if the light-weight portability is the main matter. I think the availability of different types of computers now lets us genuinely personalize our productivity machines into something that works for all of us and doesn’t have to be run of the mill for us all.

The announcement of the state of the art macbookair by Apple has really given us options with the size and what kind of laptop computer we drag around with us all the time. At less than 3 pounds and less than an inch thick, we don’t have to strain our muscles every time we go on a trip. It has a 13 inch display and a full-size keyboard. Why wouldn’t I be interested? This is the very aspect I have been wanting.

When I first saw the youtube video for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to handle laptop coming out of that envelope, I was just amazed. Now, that’s the solution I’ve been seeking for so long. Now it doesn’t have to be a major accomplishment to take my portable computer with me any longer! No extra bag that can weigh nearly as much as the portable computer, no more grimacing, no longer taking up more room than my suitcase! What a joy!

The age old question of whether size really matters is in front of us now and my answer, when it comes to a small computer is a reverberating, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter as well as weight. For me and my mobile computer smaller is certainly better.
