Let’s face it, most site owners want to learn how to rank high in Google and the supplementary search portals. To do that you’ll either need to learn SEO (search engine optimization) or employ a boffin to do it for you.
Search engine optimization sounds like a formidable thing to learn and while the mole hole does run very deep with what seems like unbounded complexities, it’s actually quite easy to get a hang of the basics.
Actually the basics are all you need to get your website rising up into the topmost positions of the SERPS (search engine results pages) with all the benfits that brings.
Any high ranking domain proprietor will tell you that a top position on Google can thoroughly flood your web pages with users all eager to find out what you can offer them. To get there we all have to learn how to rank high in Google.
When you’re ranking high in Google the other search engines more often than not follow suit, which is a nice bonus.
The technicalities are beyond the scope of this write up but at its most uncomplicated it boils down to two preeminent factors.
1. On page components.
2. Off page components.
While #1 is essential it is the off page jobs you do which will really build your rankings. Off page optimization actually boils down to gaining links from third party web sites.
The engines view a link from one page to a second as a vote. The more links which point at a page the more important that page is judged to be and the search engine rank rises. Of course that is a very simplified analysis but it’s the basics of ranking.
There are a myriad of different classifications of link. Some work much better than others for ranking purposes. The very best links you can get your hands on are in-context plain text links which contain applicable anchor text. Sound perplexing? It doesn’t have to be.
I’ve run out of space in this article but if you’re looking for additional information I’ll be pleased to provide you with a breakdown of your domain for a nominal fee. I’ll suggest keywords you might want to focus on and how to build in-context inbound links focused on those keywords.
